20 micron stretch film is the standard hand-wrap gauge in Indian warehouses. It balances puncture resistance and cost for mixed pallet loads up to about 500 kg and is the default choice where one film has to cover everything.

When to use 20 micron
20 micron is the workhorse. If a plant runs one film for everything, this is normally it — enough puncture resistance for typical carton and crate corners without paying for gauge that stable loads do not need.
Hand film is only stretched about 10–20% in practice by most operators, against a theoretical 200%+. That gap is where the money is: a pre-stretched or machine film often costs less per pallet despite a higher price per kilogram.

What is the difference between 20 micron hand and machine stretch film?
Hand film is formulated to stretch under the modest tension a person can apply and comes on short, light rolls. Machine film is engineered for high pre-stretch on a turntable wrapper and comes on long rolls — using one in place of the other wastes film or breaks it.
How much does a 20 micron stretch film roll weigh?
